CIE Bride Chat: Meet Aaliyah!
Aaliyah and Shane were the winners of our Beautiful Beginnings Wedding Giftaway that we were a part of last fall, and they are the absolute sweetest!! They are getting married at the brand new Historic Post Office in Hampton, Virginia, and their wedding is going to be SO beautiful; I have been looking forward to their special day since they were announced the winners of the Wedding Giftaway!! To apply, Aaliyah created a video about their relationship, and of course Shane had be a part of it too, even though being in the military, he was deployed at the time, and their video totally brought me to tears! I knew after watching that they were a really special couple! I mean, they first met in middle school! How cute is that?! I attached their sweet application video at the bottom of this blog so you can watch too! :)
Now we are 2 weeks away from the wedding, and I can't wait to design all their gorgeous flowers for them! It's been so fun working with Aaliyah on choosing all the different types of flowers, (to give a hint, we are using lots of blush and lavender tones, with garden roses, spray roses, and ranunculus), honing down her style, talking about centerpiece ideas and more! Each time we chat, she is just so radiant and positive- it's been such a joy to work with her! I'm excited to introduce you to this amazing couple-read on to get to know Aaliyah and Shane!! :)
How did you and Shane meet?
We met in middle school! We lived in the same neighborhood, but we never really talked. Fast forward to a few years later, we reconnected and the rest is history!
Tell us about how Shane proposed!
He proposed on the beach in front of our entire family during a photo session. It was absolutely PERFECT. He went above and beyond to make that day unforgettable. I love the fact that those sweet, candid moments were captured professionally!
Tell us about your wedding: colors, theme, flowers!
Our wedding style is what I like to call "vintage glam!" Shane's style is more elegant and mine is more glamorous. Vintage glam was the perfect way to incorporate both of our styles. I really want the event to reflect the both of us, together as one. Our colors are blush and gold with accents of lavender! As for florals, we are using a mix of ivory, blush & lavender tones. It's going to be absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait!
What has been the best part of your wedding planning? What has been an area of difficulty?
The best part of planning has been working with the group of wonderful vendors that we have been blessed with. They have gone above and beyond to for us out of the kindness of their hearts and have really made the process stress-free! The biggest area of difficulty was composing our guest list! It's stressful trying to make sure that we hadn't excluded any of our loved ones!
What are you most looking forward to once you're married?!
I'm looking forward to spending the rest of my life with my best friend. I look forward to growing mentally and spiritually, not only as an individual; but as a unit. This experience has already taught me so much. I could only imagine the growth that is yet to come! I am SO ready!!
What advice can you share for someone planning their wedding right now?
I would suggest hiring a planner or a day-of-coordinator at the least. In the beginning of this journey, I decided to be a DIY bride. However, I see now that there are so many details that go into this day. It can get super overwhelming and a planner really helps take the stress off of your shoulders. Having a planner has made my experience a breeze! I am SO thankful!'
Their engagement pictures were taken by Chelsea Anderson Photography, who is also their wedding photographer! Love her!!! <3
Their application video!! Cue all the happy tears! :)
