Private Business & Wedding Floral Design Workshop Recap

I am SO excited to share a recap of a Private Business and Floral Design workshop I hosted in February! I welcomed the ladies behind the Corner House B&B, Jenny and Kelley, into our home and studio for an entire day full of learning and we had an amazing time together! The Corner House B&B is in Rockport, Indiana, so it was such an honor to welcome these ladies who flew in from a different state for the workshop, and it was so fun being able to devote the entire day to specifically diving into their business!

We started off the day with coffee/tea and breakfast and then dove straight into the content- where I taught about marketing, the booking process, creating design proposals, and more! We talked about how to market your new business without going into debt, how to book brides in a simple and straightforward way that doesn’t involve dozens of emails, time spent tweaking proposals and research, and how to create proposals that convert and showcase the creative vision of both you and your client! We made an action plan for the Corner House and discussed their overarching goals and broke it up into manageable steps. Specifically, we focused on streamlining and ways to invigorate their marketing efforts and online presence!

Rust, Blush and Cream Katelyn James Photography Workshop Shoot

Last year, I was so honored and excited to design the flowers for Katelyn James Photography’s workshop styled shoot in Richmond, alongside some of my favorite wedding vendors!! I love the way this rust, blush and cream fall wedding inspiration came together for the workshop- I was so excited about the “flower towers” we used for the ceremony space, and the beautiful tablescape full of lots of gorgeous fall blooms!! For flowers, we used a variety of locally grown dahlias, garden roses, rust amaranthus, and ranunculus, as well as a variety of greens! The silk ribbons and silk table runner were also hand-dyed (by me), and it was fun coming up with the perfect shade of rust (I especially love the way the runner is styled on this table!) Being able to design flowers for shoots for my photographer friends workshops is always so fun, because the styled shoots always have such a great purpose behind them- teaching other wedding photographers how to take better photos and how to hone in on their photography skills! They are also full of beautiful details, and I am always blown away by the thoughtfulness and talent of each of the participants and the photography workshop attendees too! Kat, of Dear Sweetheart Events did such an amazing job planning the shoot, and the other vendors we collaborated with were all incredible!! Katelyn of course did an incredible job capturing all the details and teaching all of her lovely attendees, and I had the absolute best time hanging out with them for the day! I could go on and on about how the entire day was a dream, but I know you want to see the photos now, so enjoy!! Scroll to the bottom to see all the participating vendors!

French Blue Southern Wedding Inspiration with Hope Taylor Photography

Last month, I was so excited to design the flowers for Hope Taylor Photography's workshop styled shoot, with some of my favorite vendor friends (who also happen to be my friends in real life!!) It was SUCH a fun couple of days, filled with lots of laughter, hugs and hard work, and I love the way this French Blue Southern Wedding editorial came together for the workshop! I don't typically get to design with a blue color palette, so I was really excited to challenge myself and work to bring out more blue hues in the flowers, and those anemones with the dark navy centers were the stars of the show!!

As Seen on Style Me Pretty- Erika and Josh's Engagement Session!

Josh and Erika are two dear friends of mine, so when they asked me to design the flowers for their engagement session, I was honored! I also had the privilege of designing the flower arch and bouquet for Erika when Josh proposed over at Pippin Hill, in Charlottesville, (literally that day was a DREAM), and designing the flowers for Erika's bridesmaid brunch over at the Quirk Hotel (again, literally such a fun day), so when they asked me to be a part of this day, I just knew it would be perfect! Erika has impeccable style, and always looks like she stepped straight out of a magazine, and Josh looks so dapper in that suit jacket! They each have their own businesses, with Erika running Erika Lynn Photography, and Josh running Joshua Bryan Weddings, where he is filmmaker, but they frequently help each other out on wedding days, by assisting/second shooting, and you can just tell that they are such a unified team!! When they told me that Annamarie Akins was their wedding photographer, and that she was shooting their engagement session in Downtown Richmond, I was SO excited! And, Style Me Pretty loved their session too- so much so that it was featured on their blog this past summer! See the vendor credits at the end of this post for the full details, and check out the feature on Style Me Pretty here:

Enjoy this special blog post! :)
